Let’s get to know each other!
Welcome!
We know meeting someone for the first time can be intimidating, and going to a new church for the first time can create anxiety when what we are looking for is a moment of peace. So, we want to help make your first experience a comfortable one.
What to Expect:
Our Sunday morning service begins at 11am. In total our service is about 60 minutes in length.
We Gather Together:
We begin our time together entering into a time of reflection and centering ourselves in the moment and respecting the Divine. We allow ourselves to separate from the world and invite God to bring us peace.
We Sing Together
The worship team helps us focus our attention toward God. The words of each song are projected on a screen for people to sing along. If you don’t want to stand or sing, that’s completely fine – feel free to listen.
We teach from The Bible.
We believe The Bible has all we need to help us live a life in the full, as Jesus said. Although we may bring in definitions and stories to explain the text, our primary teachings come from The Holy Bible. Then we talk about how The Scripture is calling us to apply it, to live and impact the world around us. We are challenged to grow and change.
We take communion together.
We join together to practice the sacrament of communion. We talk about Jesus, and His sacrificial life through which we come boldly to God. This is an act of breaking bread and drinking juice to ‘Remember’ the price that was paid for us. One Sunday each month we remind ourselves that we all come to the Kingdom of God the same way – as broken people. This is an open communion for everyone who is a follower of Jesus!
We take an offering.
Giving Back to God and Blessing Others
One of the wonderful ways we get to worship God is through giving back to Him from the bounty He has gifted us. This comes in various forms such as service, physical goods, acts of love and charity, as well as finances. Living in this beautiful countryside it is a blessing to know that the things we give back to God are used around the world to bless those not so fortunate.
If you are ever curious where your giving goes, let us know. A portion of every dollar goes across the USA and around the world.
We also have an online giving option here , but we also gratefully receive God’s tithes and your offerings by mail. Checks can be mailed to: Sonoma Valley Church of the Nazarene, 18980 Arnold Drive, Sonoma, CA 95476.
Wear What You Want:
We do not have a ‘dress code’ at Sonoma Valley Church yet our people dress to meet with God. Typically, you will find others in button up shirts or polo shirts and nice slacks or dark jeans. No one is ever turned away based on their appearance.
Still have questions?
You can ask them here or simply let us know when you are coming!
